High School Students Create Mural at Art Gallery of Grande Prairie

A new mural now welcomes visitors to the Art Gallery of Grande Prairie’s classroom, a stunning creation by Grande Prairie Composite High School students under the guidance of their art teacher, Ms. Mapp. This project brought together young artists, gallery staff, and educators to transform a space into a vibrant and inspiring work of art.

A Collaborative Vision

With support from the Art Gallery of Grande Prairie’s team, students worked through the design process—conceptualizing, sketching, and refining their ideas—before bringing their vision to life with paint. The result is a colourful, dynamic mural that not only brightens the entrance to the classroom but also reflects the creativity and talent of its young artists.

This project highlights the power of art to engage youth, foster collaboration, and create meaningful connections within the community. Through their work, students were able to express their artistic voices, develop new skills, and leave a lasting mark on a space dedicated to creativity and learning.

A Special Thank You

This project would not have been possible without the guidance and support of the Art Gallery of Grande Prairie’s staff. Their expertise and collaboration gave students a unique opportunity to contribute to a professional art space, making this an unforgettable experience for all involved.

Thank you to the students, Ms. Mapp, and the Art Gallery of Grande Prairie for making this vision a reality. Visitors will be able to enjoy this mural for years to come while showcasing the impact of youth engagement in the arts.
