GPPSD Busing Services

The Grande Prairie Public School Division busing services are provided by First Student Canada. GPPSD Student Transportation Services provided are outlined in AP 550 Student Transportation Services

Busing Eligibility

BusPlanner Can I Ride a Bus Screen

To find out if your child is eligible for free busing in the Grande Prairie Public School Division, please enter your address using BusPlanner (click below).

Tips for using BusPlanner:

  • Enter your house number in the box under 'Street Number'
  • Enter your street name in the box under 'Street Name' without hyphens (-) or letter suffixes (1st, 2nd, 3rd etc.)   
  • Select Grande Prairie as "Municipality' unless you live outside the city limits.
  • Choose your child's grade under 'Grade.'
  • If your child attends French Immersion or International Baccalaureate programming, select either program in the 'Program' drop down list.  Otherwise 'Program' can be left as '--Select--'
  • Once address and grade information are entered, click on 'Submit' name to see routes and stops.

*Note: The change to the distance eligibility requirements for student transportation, first announced for September 2024 implementation, was revised by the Government of Alberta to be effective starting September 2025. Due to this government change, eligibility for student transportation at the Grande Public School Division remains unchanged for the 2024/2025 school year.

Refer to AP 350.2 - Student Conduct on School Buses

Accountability compliance creates a safe and welcoming environment for all riders. Any breach of this Administrative Procedure will be reported to the rider's school Administration, who may take whatever disciplinary action they see fit, up to and including loss of bus-riding privileges.

The Division Administrative Procedure AP 132- Inclement Weather and Other Emergencies, Section 4, outlines the procedures for when weather impacts busing.

City of Grande Prairie Transit passes are free to all students in Grades 1 - 12 who are under 18 years of age. Students can get their free youth SUPERPASS card from City Hall with a valid ID confirming their age.

Register Your Child(s) Card:

  • The City recommends immediately registering your child's card in case the card is lost or stolen. 
  • Each card has a unique ID number
  • Registration https://cityofgp.com/youthtransit

Do Not Modify Your Child's Card

  • The City has advised that families do not damage the card (i.e. use a hole punch to attach to a lanyard), as it will deactivate the card due to internal wiring.
