Post Secondary Student Bursary Program
The Grande Prairie Public School Division has created a bursary program to assist individuals with attaining their Bachelor of Education (BEd). All applications will be accepted, but preference will be given to candidates who meet the division's priority needs.
Application Deadline
2025 bursary applications will be accepted until February 18, 2025.
About the Bursary Program
This program is prioritized for individuals entering into a 4-Year BEd program or a 2-Year After-Degree BEd program at an accredited Alberta university. Consideration will also be given to those graduating in the 2025 school year.
GPPSD will grant up to $5000 annually to cover the costs directly associated with the program, which includes:
• Bachelor of Education (BEd) program - completed as a full-time student.
• After Degree BEd program - completed as a full-time student.
Note: Successful applicants must sign a two-year Return of Service Agreement with GPPSD.
Program Qualifications
To qualify for this Bursary, interested applicants must:
- Be enrolled in a 4-Year BEd program or 2-Year After-Degree BEd program at an accredited Alberta university. Consideration will also be given to those enrolled in accredited institutions outside of the province.
- Apply to our Teacher Bursary Program by completing the following:
- The bursary application.
- Undergo a pre-screening interview (offered based on an application review).
GPPSD Commitments:
- Only those considered for an interview will be contacted.
- Upon approval of the Student's Bursary application and receipt of confirmation of the student's registration into the course of studies, GPPSD will pay $5000 as an award for the student to continue in their course of studies.
- Provide a position within GPPSD as per the terms and conditions of the Return to Service Agreement.
Recipient Commitments:
- Students must submit their term marks when available to continue accessing this bursary while enrolled in their program.
- Be on track to complete their program in the allotted time frame. Must be willing to accept any open position throughout GPPSD per the terms and conditions of the Return of Service Agreement.
