Dual Credit Programming

GPPSD has partnered with our regional post secondary schools to offer Grade 11 and 12 students the opportunity to earn both high school credits and credits that count towards a post-secondary certificate, diploma, or degree, and or a journeyman certificate.

Dual Credit helps students to:

  • get a start on their post-secondary education while still in high school.
  • complete high school while engaging in meaningful curriculum.
  • transition to post-secondary studies or move into the world of work.
  • potentially complete post-secondary with less financial debt.

Registered Apprenticeship Program

This program is offered at each of our high schools which provide students with first-period technical training in various trades, including Carpentry, Welding, Automotive, Culinary Arts, and Cosmetology.

This program allows high school students to:

  • Earn credits towards your Alberta High School Diploma
  • Work as an apprentice, building hours towards a Journeyman's Certificate,
  • Divide your time between an approved work site and your high school
  • Gain first-hand experience and understanding of your chosen trade, while getting paid.

Work Experience Program

Work experience courses provide opportunities for the school and its community to combine resources to further the student’s personal development, career planning and employability skills through placements in off-campus work stations or work sites.

Provides opportunities for students to:

  • apply, in the workplace, knowledge, skills and attitudes acquired through other course work
  • discover their career interests and aptitudes in meaningful work activities, situated in community-based work stations and work sites in business, industry, government and community service.
