Phoenix compete in regional rugby tournament & wrestling competition

Over the past month, multiple Grande Prairie Composite High School students have been representing the Phoenix in sporting tournaments across the province.
Rugby
The local GP Warriors County Men and Women’s U18 teams competed in Alberta’s capital over two weekends for the Alberta Regional Championship Sevens. The boys played on January 18-19, whereas the girls played on January 25-26.
Three boys, Jaren Alaimoana, Faarman Sharma, and Austin Jefferies, and two girls, Lyla Bartlett and Hailey Senecal, are students at the Comp and are on these teams. The boys ended up in fifth and the girls in sixth.
These teams are headed to the Vancouver Invitational Sevens Tournament on the weekend of February 20-21. Four of the Comp’s students have been selected to play on the U18 teams in this event. Alaimoana has been chosen as a V.Captain for his team.
Wrestling
Jaren Alaimoana also wrestles. On February 1, he won silver in the Golden Bears High School Invitational Wrestling Showdown in Edmonton's 90 kg weight class.
Way to go Phoenix!
