Going Beyond the Classroom: Grade 7 Science

In Grade 7 Science, your child will go beyond the school walls to explore what they can do outdoors, to learn more about the environment, and to understand their role in protecting it.
Recently, Isabel Campbell Public School Grade 7 students took part in a unique field study with Inside Education, a non-profit organization that enhances science education across Alberta. Through hands-on experiences, they explored how ecosystems, sustainability, and Indigenous knowledge shape our world.
Their learning journey included:
- Northwestern Polytehniques' National Bee Diagnostic Centre – Uncovering bees' fascinating role in pollination and biodiversity.
- Foster’s Seed & Feed – Discovering how seeds are processed and the importance of agriculture in our daily lives.
- Indigenous Knowledge & History – Engaging in discussions with Elder Len Auger and local police officers at the Grande Prairie Delta Hotel, learning about Indigenous ways of life and the lasting impact of agriculture.
Experiences like these help students connect classroom learning to real-world applications, deepening their understanding of science, sustainability, and community.
Special thanks to all involved, including Elder Len Auger, Northwestern Polytechnique's staff at the NBDC, Foster's staff, and Kayla with No Negatives Required Ltd, for the beautiful images.
