High School Holiday Art Card Contest: Unleash Your Creativity and Win!

It is the time of year when GPPSD's Board of Trustees are looking for student artists who want to help create their Holiday Art Card! Students in grades 9-12 from Bridge Network, Charles Spencer High School, and Grande Prairie Composite High School are invited to create a card representing this year's theme.

Holiday Art Card Contest

Theme: All is Bright

Contest rules:

  • Must be a Grades 9-12 student at Charles Spencer High School, Grande Prairie Composite High School or Bridge Network.
  • Artwork can be a drawing, painting, or another medium on paper/canvas or digital photographs.
  • Artwork must be original (i.e., no purchased digital assets or AI-generated elements).
  • One submission per student.

Artwork specifications:

  • Artwork on Paper/Canvas: up to 9x12” on plain paper/canvas. Keep the main subject and any critical elements 0.5” away from the edge of the paper. Charcoal must be sprayed with fixative.
  • Digital Photographs: Images must be 300 DPI. The Format is 4x6" (resolution 1200 x 1800px) or 5x7" (1500x2100px).

Preparing artwork for submission

  • Artwork on Paper/Canvas: Write your first name, last name, grade and school on the back of the artwork in pencil. Do not fold paper.
  • Digital photo: Save your file as PNG or JPEG with the file name firstname.lastname.school

Contest deadline

  • Submit your artwork to your art teacher or email your PDF, PNG or JPEG to communicaitions@gppsd.ab.ca with the subject line: Art Contest
  • Submissions must be received before 3:00 p.m. on Friday, November 4, 2024.

Prizes

Prizes will be presented as a cheque to each winner. The prizes are:

  • 1st Place $200.00
  • 2nd Place $150.00
  • 3rd Place $100.00

The winners' first names and artwork will be announced during the first week of December. 1st place artwork will be used for your school division's holiday card.

All winners will be presented with their awards. Winners can choose whether they would like an image of themselves and the artwork posted to the division's social media channels. If they decline, an image of the artwork and their first name and school will be posted.

This is the 7th Annual GPPSD Board of Trustee's Holiday Art Card Contest, and it is the second year high school students have participated.
